Description

This commemorative coin honors the innocent men, women and children killed in the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. The five-sided figure represents the Pentagon. On its edges are listed the four hijacked flights and the collective vow to Never Forget. Centering the coin, against an American flag backdrop, are the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center, where the greatest loss of life occurred that day. Forty stars symbolize the courageous passengers and crew members of Flight 93, who prevented the certain destruction of another prominent landmark in Washington D.C.
